Al-Shams (Part 2)

Hummus (Php 145)

I don’t think C and I will ever get tired of great tasting Middle Eastern cuisine. I’m not sure how authentic ones should taste like, but C and I visit Al-Shams whenever we have the craving for it. We tried out a new dish which was the Beef Korma. It’s a good thing that they ask the level of spiciness for spicy dishes (that sounds redundant even in my head) because I’m not a huge fan of burning hot dishes (read: Crying Tiger). It’s good! C ordered chapati as well, which I dipped into the beef sauce when my rice ran out. We didn’t get to finish everything though because we were too full. FOOD COMAAAAAAA

I wish I can always apply this method in my life – just try out everything and leave every fear behind. People think I’m like that, and in a way I guess I am. I enjoy trying out new things, but I don’t like having to.. get people to pay for my services. Oh gosh, that did not sound like that in my head. Haha! What I meant, though, is that I do not have the same level of confidence that I usually have when people ask me to do something for them for a price – like bake a cake or write for them. C is always pushing me to take pastry orders or accept writing prompts, but I’m always hesitant to put a price tag on it because there’s this nagging thought of “what if it’s not good enough?”. So yeah, no talent for bullshitting here. Sigh. Maybe it’s a good idea for a resolution this year? 🙂

Rodrigo’s Roast Beef

C and I are fast food patrons. We are at the point where the staff at one branch of McDo knows our orders by heart. T_T When I realized this, I started saving links to lists of restaurants in places we frequent and knowing how fond I am of trying out interesting listicles, here we are! We were on our way home when I saw this link on Facebook, so C and I decided to drop by BF Homes. We usually just eat at Al-Shams when we’re there, so it was a nice change to be eating somewhere else.

The place is not huge and was located on the second floor, but it’s across a Jollibee so if you’re looking for a landmark, there is that. 😛 I did not get to taste the roasted chicken but C was neither disappointed nor got mind blown. That’s a good thing because he’s picky with his chicken! The roast beef itself is very tender and packed with flavor, although a tad salty for my taste buds. The mashed potato is great too because NO ONE GETS MASHED POTATOES WRONG. I’m a potato fan!

Any suggestions for what to try next in BF Homes? 🙂

Al-Shams

When I first met C, all he ever ate was chicken. Kjklfdjasfdjsof chicken. I swear, we ate chicken so much it’s not even funny. I was surprised when we went here because I am usually the one dragging him to try out different cuisines.

I have always been intrigued by Middle Eastern food, and based from our experience here, it is really good. All the dishes are packed with flavor, and I do not have much experience with this cuisine to dish out an accurate comparison about its authenticity. We’ve been back a couple of times now and have tried different menu items, and we’re usually a “let’s try it one time” kind of food enthusiasts. 🙂
