Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Lip Gloss Set in Summer & Fall

Something horrible happened over Easter – I accidentally deleted all photos and videos from the chicken boy and I’s most recent vacation and couldn’t retrieve it. I tried everything, to no avail. Oh well, I guess we just need to go on more documented trips together. 😦 I’m kinda glad I’m writing about this product today because I cannot rave about this more. I’m not the biggest fan of lip gloss. I didn’t even own one until I bought these sets from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I was watching Youtube videos of swatches and all the shades just looked oh so amazing, I couldn’t help but think I want to have them all.

Application: First things first, it smells amazing. Pulling out the applicator is like taking out something sugary out of a treat bag. If you were a 90s kid in the Philippines, I would say that it smells so much like the butterball candy! Upon application, the smell does go away. The applicator is not a doe-foot applicator and more of a paddle. It glides on really smoothly and does not emphasize any fine lines on your lips. I usually only need the product on one side of the paddle to put the product evenly on my lips in one go. I guess you can try to build the pigmentation, but as it is gloss and not liquid lipstick, it will feel heavy if you decide to do so.

Summer Set: St. Tropez, Blushing, Grape Jelly, Toffee, Caramel, Tango

On my lips: It’s very pigmented for a lip gloss. This is not as sheer as most lip glosses I’ve tried and could work well on its own. Of course, as it is a gloss, it does not dry out and it moves around. It will transfer, but it will not fade patchy. You can even just rub your lips together to distribute the product all over your lips if you forgot to bring it with you. It’s not sticky which is what I feared it would be, and although you can tell there’s something on your lips, it feels comfortable. It’s one of my favorite lip products to put in my bag.

Fall Set: Raisin, Amber, Berry, Maple, Carla, Rum

The shades:

St. Tropez is shade goes on quite metallic. On the swatch below, it looks pink. However, on my lips, it turns out to be some sort of nude metallic color.

Blushing is a light pink shade that could pass off as the lip gloss version of MAC Chatterbox. The first thought that popped into mind upon application is ‘Barbie Pink’.

Grape Jelly is far from being that deep violet grape shade but is instead a fuschia pink one.

Toffee is a nice nude shade on my lips. I have never been the biggest fan of nude, as I prefer bold dark colors, but this became an exception. I usually wear it whenever I want to sport a no makeup look, but I think it would also fare well with heavy eye looks.

Caramel is probably the best orange lip product in my collection. I’ve never been a fan of orange shades, but this one is more muted. Its shade is a muted down, deeper version of Amber, and I personally like this a little better too.

Tango is boysenberry in lipgloss form.

Raisin looks a bit brown on my arm but is actually a nice wearable mauve on my lips. It’s the type of mauve that will look good on anybody.

Amber is a nice light coral shade. It’s included in the Fall set, but it’s something I would wear more during the summer. I think it would be perfect for those Asian-style makeup looks.

Berry, true to its name, is a mulberry shade.

Maple is basically a slightly lighter, metallic version of Rum.

Carla is the only red gloss in both sets. When I swatched it on my arm, I thought it wouldn’t be as pigmented as it was on my lips. But this red is NOT for the faint of heart. One swipe on the lips is all it took to cover it. It’s really red and glossy, you might as well just shout ‘look at me, look at me’.

Rum is a true brown shade in the form of gloss. I’m not the biggest fan of brown lip products because it makes me look old, but if I have to buy one, I’d purchase this in a heartbeat.

Would I repurchase? Hell yeah! When I run out and the sets are still available, I would totally buy both of them again. If I do have to repurchase it individually, I would probably skip on Maple and Amber due to personal preferences. Maple is perfect for party looks and I rarely go on night outs lol. Amber is quite nice too, but just not quite suit my personality. 🙂 You can purchase it from their website or if you’re from the Philippines, preorder from @scentsandbeautyph.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Minis in The Nude Edition, The Pink Edition & The Red Edition

It’s the start of the non-working holidays for Holy Week, and so here I am with a brand new post. I was actually baptized Catholic, but currently agnostic (which I don’t see changing anytime soon), so I don’t really practice any of religion. Other people’s religion usually isn’t a big deal to me and I rarely ask unless I have to (food preferences, if they can attend a certain activity, etc). That’s why it didn’t even dawn on me that Easter was coming until I had to check out the dates while I was planning C and I’s weekend getaway. Since it’s also a holiday, I wanted to avoid the throngs of people that go on vacation during Easter weekend.

Holidays also meant a lot of holiday sales. I’m trying to grasp some self-control and not buy anything since that crazy lippie haul. As I mentioned in that haul, I was initially looking to buy the Huda Beauty Rose Gold eyeshadow palette. However, the conflicting reviews turned me off. So I browsed the site some more and found their liquid mini mattes and that hooked my interest. They have four sets divided into The Nude Edition, The Pink Edition, The Red Edition, and The Brown Edition. Since brown lipsticks add years to my look, I skipped that one and ordered the rest. The packaging is so cute, and this mini liquid lipsticks come in frosted glass containers. I’m not totally sure if it is glass though, but it’s heavy and I’m careful whenever I’m handling this because I’m afraid to drop it. It’s not cheap, yo.

The Nude Edition: Venus, Bombshell, Flirt, Trendsetter
The Pink Edition: Gossip Gurl, Trophy Wife, Icon, Socialite
The Red Edition: Heartbreaker, Material Girl, Showgirl, Famous

Application: For a matte liquid lipstick, it is quite runny. I’ve tried a lot of matte liquid lipsticks, but I have never owned one with a texture that is quite as runny as this formula. It glides on quite well but takes a while to dry completely, which I believe is also because of how runny it is. I find that if I apply lip balm prior to this, it takes a lot longer to dry and can move around. I found that I need to re-dip it in the bottle once to give it an even finish for the darker shades. My sense of smell isn’t as sensitive as other people’s but the product has a chemical smell to it. It’s not overly strong but the scent is far from being my favorite. There was also a slight ‘burning’ sensation (I’m not exactly sure if that is the right word to use) that eventually goes away, but I was quite alarmed when it happened the first time I swatched it on my lips.

On the lips: Most of the shades dry out evenly (the darker ones can be a little patchy, but that’s not new when it comes to liquid lipsticks). It’s not transfer-proof, but it’s pretty minimal (usually leaves an outline of my lips when I kiss my hand/my boyfriend’s cheek). It also does not feel drying at all, but maybe that’s why it’s STICKY. This is seriously my number one complaint. The thing I like the most about matte liquid lipsticks, and the reason why I buy so many of them even if some are a little drying on the lips, is the fact that once it dries out… it’s dry. I have the tendency to rub my lips together (even without any lipsticks on) unconsciously, but with this on, I realize I’m actually doing so. Because it sticks together. Even with the array of shades that I own, I find that I reach out for it less than I do my other lip products because I hate the feeling I get with it on even if it’s not drying. As with all matte lipsticks, scrub your lips before wearing since it can enhance chapped lips. It also will not survive a meal without touch ups. I wore Heartbreaker during dinner. I had a salad and I was leaving stains on the fork and on the glass, so there’s that.

The shades:

Venus is the perfect nude shade on my lips. It goes on really light but upon drying, it looks like I have nothing on my lips at all!

Bombshell is a coral nude shade (if there even is such a thing). It’s a nice nude, similar to Venus, but is more coral.

Flirt is a brown shade. I don’t think it’s a shade for everyone, though.

Trendsetter surprisingly is the closest shade to Venus in this set. Upon swatching on my arm, I initially thought it would be brown. However, on my lips, it’s just a wee bit darker than Venus.

Gossip Gurl is a pink shade. When I say that, I mean it’s really pink with an undertone that does not match mine. When I use it, I usually mix it with a light pink lip gloss (Anastasia Beverly Hills in Blushing).

Trophy Wife is a light plum shade, that surprisingly, does seem like a shade a trophy wife would wear. When I swatched it on my lips, a light bulb went off in my head and went “aaahhh” as I get how

Icon is included in The Pink Edition, but it would have been more suitable to be in The Red Edition. It’s a muted red orange shade that is super similar to Kylie Liquid Lipstick in 22.

Socialite is a sheer, shimmery (there are actual specks of glitter in the formula) shade that goes on with a hint of coral. I actually enjoy putting this product on without any other shades underneath whenever I’m running errands as it makes me look youthful.

Heartbreaker is surprisingly the only real red in The Red Edition. It is not a muted red, though, and is the type of bright red Taylor Swift sports in her casual looks.

Material Girl is a nice wine shade.

Showgirl is a metallic jam color. Think canned strawberry jams with metallic shimmery syrup. I’m thinking about it, and now I’m craving for jams on toast. Yum!

Famous is a dark wine shade that is the liquid lipstick version of MAC’s Rebel.

Would I repurchase? Honestly, no. I would definitely use it until it all runs out but I wouldn’t be buying any of the full-sized ones. The shades are nice and pigmented, but the sticky feeling is just not my personal preference. If this interest you, you can purchase it via their website or if you’re from the Philippines, preorder from @scentsandbeautyph.

Have anyone else encountered the same thing with their liquid lipsticks? Have you tried other items from Huda Beauty? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

Colourpop x Hello Kitty Puroland Mini Size Kit

By the time you read this, I would be on my way home (or already home) from a nice 3-day trip out to the beach with the chicken boy. I’m hoping it’s as relaxing as I thought it would be – you’d know once I’m done with these lippie reviews and I blog about it. C and I enjoy spending alone time at the beach, mostly because we find the excuse to bum around and do nothing. It felt like going back to our childhoods! As a child, I was never the biggest fan of Hello Kitty. My mom bought me a LOT of merchandise (think complete bed sheet sets and matching pajamas), but it’s not something I brought with me as I aged. I’ve had an inherent dislike for cats when I got bitten by one in grade school. I was just sitting there, minding my own business, when the neighbor’s cat decided that my leg was a free game and bit it. I know about rabies and even after medications, it brought on so much anxiety to younger me that I couldn’t even sleep in fear that I would not wake up in the morning. So there’s that. Not gonna lie though, I grabbed this set from the Colourpop x Hello Kitty collaboration while it was on sale even if I had a hard time looking for swatches on Youtube at the time.

Application: At this point, everyone I know who uses lipsticks have already used Colourpop so I was debating whether to discuss it at all. However, I know some people who might read this are not yet familiar with it, so here we go. This set consists of both ultra matte and ultra satin lippies. Both are quite pigmented but may take at least another dip in the bottle to cover the whole lips since the doe-foot applicator is small (since it’s a mini kit). I don’t really smell anything from it while is nice. The matte ones dry pretty quickly, while the satin ones.. well don’t really dry at all.

On my lips: The matte ones does feel a bit drying on the lips, which is expected for matte lip products. The satin ones can be a bit sticky but I don’t really care about how sticky it feels as for Colourpop liquid lipsticks, I found that I personally prefer the ultra satin ones over the ultra matte items. Both are quite pigmented and can last a while, although the satin will transfer. Everywhere. Your coffee cup lid. On the rest of your face when you forget you’re wearing a lipstick and eat a burger. It does take more than tissue to rub it all off, and it does not look patchy when you reapply more product on your lips (this applies to both formulas). I really just love it, and would collect all shades if I don’t already feel that I have too many lip products. Haha!

The shades:

Mimmy (Ultra Matte) looks mauve in the tube, but upon application, dries into this nice eggplant color.

Tiny Chum (Ultra Satin) is a nude-ish pink in the bottle and upon application, but it dries to an Old Rose shade. Super wearable!

Milk Bottle (Ultra Matte) is a muted pink shade. Perfect for those who just want a pink lippie for everyday use.

Lock Diary (Ultra Satin) is a dark pink shade that is almost red, but not quite. Since it’s satin, the shade does not dry and stays the same.

Ribbon (Ultra Matte) is reminiscent of an old Hollywood red shade. It’s the type of shade you would wear to a formal event.

Would I repurchase? This set is limited edition, but all these shades in a set are all you would need if you can only have five. There’s a shade for all the usual occasions you plan to go to. Plus, it’s dirt cheap! You can snatch up their other products from their website or if you’re from the Philippines, preorder from @scentsandbeautyph.

CRAZY LIPPIE HAUL || Colourpop, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Huda Beauty

I’m not gonna lie, February was a whirlwind month for me. I have talked about it repeatedly over the last few posts so I’ll skip that and simply say: GUYS, I BOUGHT A LOT. Sure, wine did have a huge part in the decision making. There’s something so relaxing about lying in bed, drinking wine, and watching lipstick swatches over on Youtube.. that I got so relaxed, my inhibitions went away and I ordered so many lipsticks. How many? 29 different shades!

I was born and raised in the Philippines. It’s a beautiful country, but man, there’s a lot of downside in living in this place. Crappy politicians, the constant heat (I’m not even kidding when I tell people our seasons are just ‘hot’ and ‘hotter’) and heavy traffic aside, I hate the fact that a lot of things I want to buy has to go through resellers because I can’t just waltz in a store to buy it. Sure, you can order it online and have your items shipped here but it will have to go through Customs. And when you’re in the Philippines, there are controversies surrounding claiming your packages from Customs that you avoid the hassle and just buy from resellers. (Relevant link: Lifestyle checks for Customs workers) But I digress, let’s move on from irritating topics to fun ones!

Let’s face it, it takes a while to finish liquid lipsticks, unless you use the same shade every day. Mini lip kits are a great way to try different shades for less to find a shade you are willing to repurchase in its full-sized glory. I’ve been debating for a while now to get hold of Colourpop’s mini lip kits, and when they released their collaboration with Hello Kitty, I knew I had to get my hands on their Colourpop x Hello Kitty Puroland Mini Size Kit.

I have been wanting to try out Huda Beauty’s Textured Shadows Palette Rose Gold but the reviews are super conflicting, I decided to browse their website and saw mini lip kits. I went and ordered three out of the four Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Minis.

I’m not fond of lip gloss.. I didn’t even own one until I bought both of Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss Sets. Surprisingly, this was the product I was the most excited for after watching all those swatches on Youtube. I can’t wait to try them all on!

I got freebies with my order in the form of Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and Clinique Three Shades in 05 On Safari. The eyeshadow palette has shades that I don’t own yet, and are all shimmery which I like. I have brown eyes, and so this is pretty much perfect for me.

Now that I think about it, maybe it is a blessing in disguise that there’s a lot of brands I can’t buy here because I am weak and have zero self-control. Ha!! For anyone else looking to buy authentic makeup from the US, @scentsandbeautyph has the cheapest prices I could find for these items. Most items are pre-order based, though, so you will have to wait for it for at least two weeks. Not bad for the money you save. 😉

Which ones are your favorites? Should I make lip swatch videos for these products? Let me know!

HAUL || January + February 2017

Hey, everyone! Does anyone else also feel a bit of disbelief that February is already ending, but yet it’s only even February? Because I totally do. I feel like so much has already happened in such a short span of time, it’s making my head spin. It’s also literally making me sick. Early this year, I’ve had to deal with a cancer scare, thanks to the great doctor who checked up on me and went “it could either be an infection or cancer”. Since there is a multitude of health concerns that can be inherited from either side of the family, you have no idea how terrified I was the two weeks I had to undergo tests and wait for the diagnosis. C and I celebrated the day I was told it was only a cancer scare and I had seafood ramen for dinner.. which then triggered an allergic reaction. As it turns out, it was a ‘chance’ reaction to seafood that lasted for two weeks where I was put on a hypoallergenic diet. The spots are still subsiding up to now, though, but at least it’s not as visible anymore. I also had to adjust my body clock back to day shift after working the night shift for more than a year, which in turn weakened my immune system enough for me to catch the flu. Three weeks in, I’m back to working the night shift, and I guess you can already see where this is going. I’m sick again and has been constantly plagued by migraines. I really need to up my vitamin game. Any suggestions?

With all the health concerns, I spent half the time being sad about it, and the other half throwing money at my feelings. It is during this kind of days where I felt like it’s mom who made our home feel like home, and even if I stay in because I’m sick it doesn’t feel as homey as it used to be. Even shopping therapy can’t stop me from missing her. Fortunately, I didn’t spend more than I can afford (personal rule when spending money). But I also wasn’t as frugal as my mom would have preferred (please don’t haunt me).

I have an abundance of dresses, skirts, and (surprisingly, for someone living in this tropical country) knit sweaters, in my closet. But I seriously lack tops. The start of the year meant ‘end of season’ sales everywhere, which I took advantage of when I went inside MANGO to find out they were selling their tops for a little more than a quarter of the original price. I got tops in white (the little floral embroideries grabbed me), peach, and moss green (I didn’t see that the string for the button had a problem 😦 ). Admittedly, my color palette could rival ones of a unicorn a few years back, but I’m now at the phase where I lean towards muted colors, as you can see from my purchases below.

I also got some items from Old Navy – this burgundy pair of pants are so comfortable and something you can dress up or dress down in. I also bought this white shirt which cost less than Php 200 because I don’t own one yet (I know, right). The swimwear was sold separately but since I found a matching pair, I bought it. I am in love with those scalloped edges! Now I only need to get back to having red hair, and I can pretend I’m the little mermaid again.

I ordered the ZOEVA Bamboo Luxury Set brushes I wanted from Sephora that I didn’t get to buy in Singapore since it was only available online. It’s such a great purchase – the brushes are soft, have minimal fallout, and applies like a dream. It also comes with a nice beige pouch that I will be using when I’m traveling. I also bought a box of Benefit Cosmetics 1st Prize – Strobing & Highlighting Set since I have no idea how to use a highlighter yet, and I wanted to try out the ones from Benefit before buying anything full sized. I got a laptop sleeve freebie which turned out to be useful since my laptop fit nicely in it.

Since I don’t really do a lot of eye makeup, I don’t own any eyeshadow palettes. I decided that it’s about time to invest in one and looked around for a nice all around palette. After reading a lot of reviews, I went and bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette from @themakeupstore.mnl. She has a lot of on hand items for people like me who hates waiting. For those who don’t mind waiting and want to buy it for a price that’s a little bit cheaper, you can also get it from @scentsandbeautyph. I preordered quite a stash of lip products from her that will be arriving next month. I can’t wait to show you guys!

I went with C to Nuvali on another shopping trip (yes, we literally name our dates where one of us are planning to buy something as ‘shopping trips’), as he was on a lookout for new leather shoes. I told myself I wouldn’t buy anything.. and here we are. I got this peach knee-length pleated dress because I have a variation of dresses with this style but not this color yet (I am very fond of plain knee-length dresses). I also got a pair of dark green jeans from UNIQLO since C has one, and it looked great on him lol. My last clothing purchase is of this knit sleeveless turtleneck that was on sale from Cotton On which I bet I can pair with all the skirts I own. Yas!

My last purchase for this month is a laptop. I have gone four years without my own by borrowing from either my siblings or C, but I have found myself using it more and I just can’t share one anymore. I looked around and really liked the ASUS Zenbook 3 in Rose Gold. Unfortunately, it was consistently unavailable here in Manila since it launched, so we went around and compared other laptops that had similar specs. I’ve owned it for a few weeks now, and so far, no regrets!

Let me know in the comments below if these monthly haul posts are something you’d like to read again, or if I should do something else. Kinda weird writing about it too, because I feel like I burned so much money away. Haha!

Honestly, I don’t see the point of wearing makeup to the beach. I’m fortunately not a celebrity nor a model so I can live with that I guess. I was actually hesitant to buy this brow product because 1) it’s touted as waterproof and 2) it’s in liquid form that dries quickly. I already have a hard time working on not being late every day, and I didn’t think having to use makeup remover and redoing my makeup would be beneficial to my time.

However, I do have the tendency to just do my brows on lazy days.. and an unfortunate habit of rubbing off parts of my eyebrows before I remember I drew them there. So I threw my reservations out the window and bought this!

What I like the most about this product is that a little goes a long way. For regular days, I only have to use a pea-sized amount and it’s already good enough for both eyebrows. Of course, the case is different when I have to go to parties (where I know I will be photographed and that I’ll be staying out later than usual) – I put on twice the amount which still isn’t a lot. It retails around Php 1,500 (yes, it’s expensive), but it will last you for a while. You’d need a makeup remover as well before going to bed since it’s water proof and as much as it would be nice to wake up with your brows already on, it’s not really the best thing to do to your skin.

One of my concerns is about it drying up before I get the chance to blend it in was remedied by keeping my brows maintained. By doing so, I only ever spend a little time lining my brows because I only had to follow its shape before filling it in. So overall, I would definitely buy this again. A tip, though: the makeup brush is not a requisite for the application. I find that the cheap ones work almost the same as their brush, although I prefer something that would last me for years. 😛

Hello, it’s me – on night shift! I don’t think I knew what I signed up for when I went on night shift.. because damn, it’s so hard to sleep during the day. It’s sweltering (tropical country whut), it’s noisy, and definitely not something I’m accustomed to. I have had jet lag before so I’m simply going to pray my body clock soon allows me to shift ‘time zones’. 🙂

(I felt the need to justify myself so here you go. SPOILER: Selfie overload!)

Good thing I have this handy dandy foundation to cover up my tired skin! I have tried different foundations but I find that MUFE works best on my face. It may or may not be the way I apply it, but my non-professional self can apply the foundation and make it look like second skin! I also got a shade that matches my skin perfectly –

Left: with makeup, right: removed my makeup (the mirror is dirty, hence the white spots on my lips)

I like that it comes in an easy to use pump bottle, however, I’m a bit concerned that when it runs low, I wouldn’t be able to maximize all of it. Let’s see once I get to that point, though! The price is more expensive than your drugstore makeup as it retails for Php 2,700, but seeing as I put it on my face every day, I’ll pay for the great quality.

When I use it when I go to work or go on dates, I don’t really apply any primer with it. My makeup routine ensures that it lasts me the whole time I’m not home, and I do have minimal shine with it on. However, I find that it works well with primers with moisturizing properties since it emphasizes dry skin when applied on a bare face. I have oily skin on most days, so it’s not a problem for me. However, I used it in combination with Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer – Hydrating Primer (the sampler that came with it) when I had to go to a masquerade ball – and it did not melt off my face the entire night (up to the wee hours of the following day).

My eyebrow makeup skill is still a work in progress.

Will I buy this again? Definitely! I’m even thinking of getting the full-sized hydrating primer for the days that my skin’s drier than the desert!

Benefit The POREfessional

I’m admittedly not a makeup expert.. I just happen to be vain enough to enjoy putting a load of products on my face, and just recently, I ventured into getting myself a primer. The primary function of primers (see what I did there? lol) is to ensure that your makeup lasts a while. Benefit takes it a notch higher by promising to minimize your pores as well – so when I went to get my brows done, I bought one! Diane (my one and only brow lady), has been using this on my face every time she does my entire makeup (I know, A+ for customer service) after doing my brows. I usually go to the store bare faced since they’ll be wiping off part of your make up anyway.. and what am I saying, I just went off tangent there. Haha! So here we go..

My two cents..

It’s weird – and I hope you guys (and girls) can see this from my perspective, but that was my exact thought upon application since it’s a bit thicker than my foundation, and yet when applied directly to your face, it’s kind of putting on a film over your skin. I followed Diane’s advice to mix a pea-sized amount of primer with my liquid foundation. I find that it works best with my face that way – and also because I’m too lazy to wait a while before applying my foundation. Haha! However, my unpredictable skin, which is oily 90% of the time, has crazy bouts of dryness. I stay away from this product when my face is dry since it emphasizes how dry it is and my skin looks, for the lack of better term, flaky. So moisturize properly, girls (and guys)!

One of my favorite things about it is that it keeps the shine at bay. I have a good oil-free face for 6-8 hours, depending on the humidity of this tropical country I live in before I have to go blot my face. I’m not that sure if it has something to do with my foundation or the powder I use, though, but together, they work really well. 🙂 My pores aren’t much of a bother for me, and honestly, I do not see a big difference to their size with or without the primer. So there’s that. But since it’s not really that high up on my priorities, we’re good.

I also got this free sample-sized Air Patrol with the purchase but I haven’t used it yet. 😛

Will I buy it again?

I’m quite satisfied with it overall, and a little amount goes a long way. I probably would buy it again unless I try out another primer that works like magic. 😛

K-Palette Lasting 2Way Eyebrow Pencil 1 Day Tattoo

Hello! I’m typing this while I’m half awake in bed.. if you must know (I’m aware that you don’t but indulge me), in an attempt to get my ass to write every day, I went ahead and put everything from my drafts in queue. A day after doing so, I totally forgot all about it and I had to modify the post before this because it got published without any text at all! Ooops, my bad! 🙂

When I got my hair bleached and dyed blonde, I had to up my make up game since the blonde hair kind washes me out and enhances the flaws on my face. Boo! Aside from having to adjust to putting make up on every time I go out of the house, I had to switch eyebrow products as well as the one I own was too dark. I bought the lightest shade for this one from Beauty Bar for a discounted price that I no longer remember (selective memory retention meh).

It does serve its purpose of filling in my brows. I use the pencil applicator to outline my eyebrows and fill in with powder. However, you have to be careful in dispensing the pencil product because it’s very soft and breaks easily (click the second to the last photo to enlarge). I also had a bit of a hard time trying to create precise edges (like makeup artists do), because the pencil is not that sharp. Whenever I’m leaning towards the more natural look, though, I forego the use of pencil and lightly apply the powder instead. It’s very easy to use which is why I stuck with it until it ran out.. I did not restock though because I moved on to MUFE’s eyebrow product. 😛

(I suck at make up reviews, I’m sorry)

This or That?

Wow, won’t you look at that? Two posts in one weekend! *pats back* Hooray for a new beauty post! Who here can remember the last time I published one? Certainly not me! Fortunately, Andrea and Karen tagged me in a Beauty Tag, and the mechanics are as simple as the title: This or That? 🙂

To be honest, I only own two pieces of blush and a lonely bronzer (ELF Blush in Candid Coral and ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Sunkissed), the two above and the blush I won from Kim. I rarely use a bronzer since I lack any sense of contouring ability. Also, I feel like I look older than I really am without making my features stronger. Hmmm.

I never really wear gloss so this one is an easy peasy. Above are my current favorites: Avon Ultra Moisture Rich in Barely There, MAC Please Me and Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Monte Carlo.

What is the difference anyway? I can’t make an informed decision without knowing. Haha! But what I do use are the following: ONE Naturales Shea Butter Lip Balm in Berry Delicious and SkinFood Shea Butter Lip Care Bar.

When it comes to eyeshadows, I use a mix of matte and shimmer. The only thing I’m particular about is color since I’m into warm, neutral ones such as the ones from the Sleek Make Up Oh So Special Eyeshadow Palette. Admittedly, I only use one shade of eyeshadow (shown in title photo) when I’m too lazy to care (which is most of the time hahaha), Rimmel London Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in Smokey Quartz.

In the battle between foundation (Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover) and concealer (ELF All Over Cover Stick), my flawed face needs both to look extra polished. However, for my everyday look, I stick with just foundation (Bourjois Paris Healthy Mix Serum). I do want people to still recognize me even without makeup on, and I only go for full coverage when I have to attend events.

Again, the answer to this question depends on the look I’m going for. I use a light hand with pencil liners (Avon Glimmersticks in Cosmic Brown) for romantic dates to subtly make my eyes pop *wink wink*. For night outs and events where I know I will get my photo taken, I use my gel pencil liner (IN2IT Waterproof Gel Liner) if I’m putting the focus on my eyes and a liquid liner (IN2IT Liquid Liner) when I need more defined eyes and the party is on my lips. 🙂

Sure, loose powder is more recommended for oily faced girls like yours truly, but I’m mostly on the go, hence, bringing around loose powder and applying it (while on a car/bus, yes I do that) is something I find too messy. Pressed powder (SkinFood White Grape Fresh Light Pact), hands down.

First off, I do not use a sponge. I use makeup brushes (Sigma Premium Travel Kit Sweet in Pink and ELF Professional Total Face Brush) for basically everything. Or my clean fingers in applying my everyday foundation (stated above), because it’s just easier that way. :p

Lastly, when it comes to mascara, the crybaby in me prefers waterproof ones though it’s harder to take off at the end of the day. I’m not too picky when it comes to mascara since I throw it out after 6 months (my eyes are pretty sensitive). The one I’m currently using (IN2IT Mascara) is the one I got from IN2IT, bundled with the IN2IT Liquid Eyeliner. Now ladies, what are your beauty essentials? 🙂
